Introducing the new Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson of PASA Council

Dear Members and Stakeholders

We are pleased to announce that Ingrid Goodspeed has been appointed as the new Chairperson and Herman Singh as the new Deputy Chairperson of the Payments Association of South Africa (PASA) Council, effective 1 August 2024.

Ingrid holds the qualifications LLB, MBL (cum laude), BCom (Hons) in economics, and BCom in accounting and economics, and the designation of Chartered Director (SA). She has over 30 years of experience in banking and financial markets, including roles at National Treasury, Nedbank, Deloitte, and Absa Capital. Ingrid is an independent consultant who serves on several boards and trusts.

Ingrid has been involved at PASA since February 2017, serving as independent Deputy Chairperson of PASA Council, and as the Chairperson of the Audit Committee from October 2023 to July 2024. She is a director and Vice Chairperson of the South African Institute of Financial Markets, director of ASISA Enterprise and Supplier Development (Pty) Ltd, Vice Chairperson of ASISA Foundation, and Chairperson of the MMI ESD fund.

Herman holds the qualifications BSc (Mech) Eng, GDE (Ind) Eng and MBA (cum laude). He has 40 years of experience in manufacturing, management consulting, banking, technology, and mobile money and network operations. Herman is the CEO and founder of Future Advisory, adjunct faculty at Duke University (Raleigh, North Carolina), Adjunct Professor at the Graduate School of Business of the University of Cape Town and Professor in practice at the business school of the University of Johannesburg.

He has been an independent Councillor at PASA since June 2021 and currently serves as the Chairperson of the Council Risk Committee. Herman has also held the role of independent non-executive director at African Bank since December 2021 and at Telkom since September 2020. He is also a director and investment committee chairperson at Adcorp Holdings.

We look forward to their leadership and are grateful to have two such seasoned experts to lead PASA Council into the transition to the Payments Industry Body.
